SCIEN: Bridging Science, Policy and Society Initiative
The SCIEN, Science, Policy, and Society initiative is a collaborative effort of academic researchers dedicated to advancing scientific research, enhancing evidence-based policy-making, and developing new academic programs. Our mission is to integrate scientific rigor, societal engagement, and policy development to address complex global challenges, with a particular emphasis on Socio-Economic Policy, Mountain and Rural Development, Environment and Climate Change, and Participatory Planning.
We operate across four core areas:
1. Leading international scientific research projects with a strong focus on social sciences and the unique dynamics of rural and mountainous regions;
2. Evaluating development programs to provide evidence-based insights for decision-makers, particularly in socio-economic policy and environmental resilience;
3. Innovating teaching in universities by designing new bachelor's, master's, and PhD programs, with an emphasis on sustainable development;
4. Harnessing the power of digital data for analysis and visualization to support evidence-based policy and participatory planning.
